im so so so so so so so so happy this is my last blog. i hate doing this things so much but i have to admit that ive actually learned from doing this and reading some of yall blogs. ive become come more socialy aware i guess that what u could call. i never really use to care about half the stuff yall put up but as i read on and felt your passion on the subject i felt touched and been feeling the need to make a difference. i aint gonna be no activist but i will try to shine some light on these subjects and get people talking whatever way i can. how is this related to sociology idk but i kno if i tried hard enough i could find a connection. got it! this is related to sociology because its about our sociology blog and how it affected me and my out look on social problems.

The One

A lot of people will go through life without ever finding that special someone. Many will meet their special someone, and foolishly let them go. The ones that are lucky will find that special someone, and hold on for dear life. They will do whatever it takes to make things work with their significant other.

Young adults will typically go through a series of different types of relationships. You'll meet the fling when you're young. They will typically go for the girl/guy who definitely has the looks and social status, but is either dumb as rocks or just has absolutely no personality. After a few of those, they will try to branch off (girls more than guys) to the guy or girl who has a great personality, isn't too bad to look at, but still doesn't have any deep emotional attachment to.

Then, if you're lucky, they meet that special someone. The one who can make you smile, without even being in the room. The one who can still make your stomach drop and give you butterflies by just walking into a room. The one who no matter how bad your day is going, can completely turn it around and make you feel on top of the world, just by being herself. Words cannot describe the feelings you feel for the other person in this type of relationship. They are your other half, and without them you're not whole. It's not always perfect, there are obstacles and rough times, but getting through those things will not only make you stronger as a person, but as a couple as well.

Now there are people out their who are bachelors, players, and people who don't see themselves ever getting into a relationship like that, but it could happen without you even realizing it. It could happen on your way to work, school, anywhere. Anytime.

There will be people against the relationship, and people who are for it. Their parents may love the fact that they are together, or hate it. But with like all relationships that end up successful, it takes hard work. It takes a lot of commitment, communication, and comprise for relationships to work. You can't let others influence your outlook on your relationship too much. Of course, you'll listen to other people's advice such as your friends and family, but what it really comes down to is how you feel in the relationship. Other people cannot tell you how to feel, but if you put too much thought into what other people tell you, it can put seeds in your head and the relationship can begin to spiral downward.

I didn't want to go too much into depth about what it feels like to find that special someone, or "the one", or what it takes to make your relationship with them work, but no matter how much of a player you are, you could meet that special someone sooner than you think.

Hobby or lifestyle?

Video games to some can be a way to let off a bit of stress, or socially interact with other people through online game play. To a thirteen year old boy in China, it was a way of life. He played the game World of Warcraft pretty much from sunrise to sunset. It started out as a fun new game to play with friends, to an addiction, a way of life. What seemed like a normal little boy, quickly changed as he played the game for what started at a few hours a day, to around half the day, and what ultimately ended at 20+ hours a day. He felt as though he was in the game, and that he was his character. He later ended his life after jumping off of a 24 story building while reenacting a part of the storyline.

A lot of people have different personalities. Some kids can pick up a game, enjoy it for a while, but still be able to step away from the game and go out with friends, and do their schoolwork. Others, many having addictive personalities, pick up a game, and can quickly become addicted and it can affect their social lives and schoolwork.

Parents need to be able to step in when they see their children playing too much of a video game. A lot just assume it's just what kids do nowadays but that is not always the case. It can lead to a lot of problems down the road, such as childhood obesity, social problems, and can even lead to poor scores on their tests and schoolwork.

Enjoying games to let off some stress is one thing, but to feel as though you are part of the game, living in some fantasy world, is totally different.

Waste of money

Imagine you're fresh out of high school, attending either a community college or a university, and you have just picked your major, then you realize you have to take classes and pay for books that you don't even need. For instance, I am a Sports Medicine & Kinesiology major, but when I picked my major, I didn't expect to have to pay for so many unneeded classes. When the hell am I ever going to use what I learned in History class, or Humanities Through the Arts class in the real world?

Not only are college's ripping us off for the cost of the classes (Upwards of $400-500 dollars a class), but they are wasting our time and hard earned money for the books as well. Not everyone is living the dream and just has cash they can pull out of their ass. Half the people who go to college are paying for it out of their own pocket, and it aint cheap.

I think we need to be taking classes that will relate to our major, and help us with our careers after college. For instance, in my situation, taking a class about Sports Nutrition and Exercise fitness would be better for me than a speech class, or a psychology class. I just don't understand why the curriculum has to include classes that we will probably never even use again in the future.

Music cures everything

I personally love music. I think it can either calm the soul or just get your anger out depending on what you listen to. Music is great for dancing with friends or just even sitting at home listening to music. It allows you to escape from the crazy life you live and just relax and enjoy some good music. Music comes from all different cultures but we all enjoy music just like other cultures would. I think this is great and gives us plenty of ideas for our music and also allows us to listen and learn what other cultures enjoy. I have a tattoo of a treble clef with a peace sign in the middle and a necklace that my sister got me for christmas that means a lot to me because I enjoy music very much so. People constantly ask me oh do you play? Then they get all offended that I do not play but I have a tattoo and an expensive treble clef necklace. Like I do not understand why I must play something to love music. I enjoy and get very into music just because I do not play does not mean that I cant enjoy it as much as someone who would.

everybody cheats?

Why do we cheat? A man and a woman in the perfect relationship aka the perfect couple but are they really? He’s tall dark and handsome and a perfect gentleman. He is her dream man, the kind of man you marry. He’s charming, funny, smart, sensitive, understanding and has great smile. And to top it all of the parents love him. She’s even better. She got a cute face and a nice body, not to big and not to small. She’s just the right height and just the right weight. She the kind of girl you see and you just know. Every fiber of your being reacts to her like she came from you and made just for your. She understands you more than any of your boys ever could and brings out a side of you you never knew you had. She the kind of girl you bring home 2 mama. 2 perfect to be true right? That’s because it is. Both of these people are cheating every chance they get. They love each other and would die if they ever lost each other but that doesn’t stop them. Maybe most of us know people like this or have been in a situation similar to this ourselves. So perfect that you know something has to be wrong and your not sure if you want to know or not. Idk y but almost everybody cheats. Men get the bad rep as the ones most likely to cheat and that’s well deserved but that’s just cuz women know how not to get caught. When a man cheat its in the heat of the moment its all lust and passion, but when a woman cheats its emotional and that’s so much worst I think. But why do we do it? Can anybody tell me why enough is never good enough?

poor mans sport

So sometime last week FIFA announced that the world cup was going to Russia and the Qatar. This will be the first time either country will host the event. It’s a pretty big deal seeing how this is the first time it will reach eastern Europe and Qatar will be the first middle eastern country to host. This aligns with FIFAs goal of taking soccer all over the world. In things like this there always a winner and a loser and the biggest loser of this decision was the US. For the last couple years the US has been making preparation to make a bid to FIFA to hold the world cup, and many involved felt like this was their year. Their bid was flawless so many were surprised when they didn’t receive the event and some called it an outrage. But was it really an outrage? I don’t think so, not one bit. Soccer may be the world most popular sport but it might just be the US least popular sport. Why that is I don’t know, but I can tell you why the rest of the world loves soccer. Soccer is a poor mans sport. To play a competitive game of soccer all you need is something to kick and makers for the goal. I’ve played soccer with water bottles, balled up paper, shoes, and even rocks. It doesn’t take much to enjoy the wonders of soccer. And kid growing up anywhere can always find something to kick. No matter the circumstances. So whether your growing up in a village, in the desert, or in a city you can always get 2 enjoy the magic of the original football knowing the game is played the same no matter where you go and always hoping that one day you’ll get the chance to represent your country on the world stage and show out.

i love the way you talk

For as long as I can remember I’ve had an obsession with languages and accents. I love all the different ways people manipulate their mouths while speaking a specific languages. I love all the dialect of any certain language. But mostly, I love how 2 people can be speaking the exact same language but sound completely different. I can speak 3 different languages so I guess that’s where my appreciation of all these comes from. I’ve heard just about every accent there is when some speaks English. I’ve heard country girls with accent so thick that when they said corn it sounded like cone. I’ve heard French girls speaking English 2, they talk like they’re speaking French but English words are coming out. They don’t understand that they have to change the way they move their tongues in their mouths in order to pronounce al the words correctly. British girls might have the best accent there is. They all sound so cute and I don’t know what is it about their accents but they be getting me. The only thing that might come close to a British accent is a Jamaican accent. My girl friend Jamaica and she got an accent for days. I’ve been with her for over a year and still sometimes I be like what? What are you saying? So they speak patwa (Jamaican Creole) over there but all of them can also speak Standard English cuz they have to speak it in school. But its still crazy when they speak standard English, off the bad you’ll notice they don’t use “h” or “th”. How sounds like ow and them and the sounds like dem and da. I think it’s tough though. I spent my last 2 summers in Jamaica so I understand how they talk and I can even talk to like them. But I still find it incredible that based on where you live even if you speak the same language you’re almost guaranteed to sound different. Like you got the New York accent, the southern accent, the Cali accent and the New England accent. And if you want to keep it local you got the dc accent and the Baltimore accent.

winter blows

So I’m from a place where there 2 seasons instead of 4. Out here yall got spring, summer, fall, and winter. Throughout the year yall weather is all over the place: From freezing, to cool, to hot, to endless rain. Where I’m from we got the wet season and the dry season. No matter the season, it’s always hot, like really hot. One season just happens to have a little more rain than the other. I group up in that type of weather for the first 8 years of my life and that’s what my body is trained to handle. Like below 70 degrees to me is freezing, not chilly but freezing. So you can imagine how crazy winter has to be for me. I hate winter and I don’t know why anybody could love it. What kind of person likes the cold? I swear God messed up when he made winter. My life during winter time is like hell. I’m always sick no matter how much I cover up, I don’t go outside, I got heaters all over the house, and the heat blasting at the same time. The average temperature at my house during winter time is like 85 degrees we can even see outside through the glass for real. What made me really hate winter though was snow. My first winter here it snowed on Christmas and that’s was my first time seeing snow. I didn’t know anything about it except what I saw in the movies. I knew it would be cold but I didn’t know how cold. I swear playing in that snow made that Christmas the worst day of my life. I went out there with layers and a layer of clothes thinking I was good. Boy was I wrong. I haven’t been out in the snow since then and that’s was like 10 years ago… I hate winter so much that I cant even live out here as soon as I can, I’m moving to a place down south or out the country… no joke.

Is this our future?

Ive noticed lately that a huge number of people in their mid 20's and younger seem to have a huge sense of self entitlement. They believe that they should work less, get paid more and have no repercussions to their actions. As an example, I went back for career training into a new job and was in class with people who had just joined the military. Their blatant disregard for the rules and the disrespect they showed their superiors was disgusting. They seemed to think that just because they were there that it was enough. They did less and expected more. It wasn't just in the military that I saw this change. When I got out and started working at a hospital, there were younger receptionists that kept complaining about raises but believed work was more a time to socialize and flirt rather than actually do their job.

Now I'm not trying to say that this is every person in their mid 20's or earlier because there are exceptions to every rule but its slightly alarming to see so many young adults acting like this. Where have we gone wrong in showing our children the value of integrity and hard work? Hopefully as they grow up, they will grow out of this phase and start acting like a true, functional adult. Maybe this is just another side effect of the fact that people seem to start their careers and families much later in life.

Do you feel our Criminal Justice System is strict enough

In my opinion, i feel that the criminal justice system plays a huge role in our society. Having a brother as a police officer i hear all about our court systems and how they are not strict on enforcing punnishment. Citizens are required to go to court after being issued a citation from as minor as a traffic violation to as high as felony cases involving rapes and murders. From what i have seen and heard our court systems do not enforce strict punnishment creating many problems. Illeged criminals get off on minor charges and are let back into the society with as little as a fine to pay. I feel that our criminal justice system needs to be much stricter in enforcing punnishment, so that offenders do not become repeating offenders and cause a threat to our socity. What do you think should be changed to enforce greater punnishment on illeged criminals, and minor offenders.
