They say your brain doesn’t fully mature until your 25. So they decided to make the drinking age 21. What? How does that make any sense?
The police can hand out as many alcohol citations as they want but they are still unable to control the outburst of teenage drinking. High school parties and just college life in itself are reasons for this underage drinking. When students go to college, especially a 4-year college, they are likely to start or continue consuming alcohol. Partying and drinking is a huge part of the “college experience.” So if partying and drinking is part of being in college, why isn’t the drinking age 18? Almost all of freshman, college students are 18 or above. Most of them live in dormitories their first year so a car is not in the picture. Meaning if a freshman was drinking during a night at the college, they would be walking or taking a cab home; eliminating the problem of drinking and driving. Also, I personally believe that some teenagers drink just because they can’t. The feeling of being rebellious is like a way to be cool so teenagers are rebelling against the law and drinking. Another loop hole to drinking is getting fake identifications. More and more teenagers are finding ways to get fake identification that gives them a way to buy alcohol. Teenagers are using older look-alike people for IDs or they are finding people who can create a legit looking fake ID. The creation of fake identifications is a major problem for the government in that it is a major violation of false identity and identity theft. Maybe if the drinking age was lowered to 18 there would be fewer problems with under aged drinking. If Obama wants to make a change, maybe this could be a good change to think about.

Hummm, why do I think that you are an under age drinker? Well, here is my attempt to present to you with prons and cons of alcohol consumption, and I hope that you make an informed and educated decision.
ReplyDeleteDrinking in excess of alcohol-even for an absolutely healthy one-could lead to heart disease, liver disease, high blood pressure and kidney disease, as well as many other medical problems.
Haavy drinking can:
-add to the increasing high blood pressure, which is the second foremost cause of kidney disease
-interfere with medicines making it more difficult to manage high blood pressure. Uncontrolled high blood pressure is more probable to damage kidneys.
-lead to more repeated urination, which could cause dehydration
-prevent the kidneys from keeping up a right balance of body fluids and minerals
-injure kidney cells altering the structure and also function of the kidneys
Alcohol could lead to all sorts of damage to the kidneys. These impacts could vary from cell damage and swelling of the kidneys to alcohols' effect of a variety of hormones that in charge of kidney function. Alcohol makes an ionic imbalance in the body that could harmfully have an effect on various metabolic processes.
Drinking alcohol in moderation can:
-Lessen the risk of cardiovascular disease
-Lessen the risk of diabetes
-Defend against Alzheimer's disease and other dementia
-Decrease stress, nervousness and tension
-Create a more pleasant, happy-go-lucky attitude.
Alcohol in moderation could be benefiacial, but alcohol does more domages than good, and if you are looking to get drunk, you are definately doing serious domages.
haha I think someone drinks illegally too. I think this idea is horrible. I agree with janviere on this one. I mean how many kids really will only have a beer or two at these parties...ummmm...NONE so therefor all the consequences to heavy drinking will come true. I think if it gets lowered that more younger kids will drink and this world will go more down the crapper. I mean in the 70's it was 18 and look what they did raised it to 21, so why go back on what clearly didn't work 40 years ago. There are more important issues than this.
