Overpopulation.

It seems like everywhere I go, there is tons of traffic, maybe it's my location, or maybe just maybe, there is way too many people! In 1950, the world was holding about 2.5 billion people, today it's almost 7 billion people. Almost all population growth takes place in the less developed regions. Overpopulation is a serious issue that is getting worse. I'm not suggesting that we all have to stop having children, just not as many. American's can be selfish, just because someone has the money to have 10 kids, doesn't mean they should. Adoption is also a great way to stop the world from being overpopulated.

Researchers estimate that if humans don't stop making babies, in 3 to 5 years we could start running out of resources to live. Like oil, food, water, etc. Having clean air to breathe would also be nice, the more people, the harder it is to have clean air. Worldwide, air pollution shortens the life of an average person by nine months. Fresh water supplies are running low worldwide. This water crisis is expected to grow as the population increases. The conclusion to this blog is the same as my previous blog, two simple words, BIRTH CONTROL.

  1. Over population is always going to be a problem because people don't seem to understand what it means to have a world that is overpopulated. I think there need to be some sort of awareness to educate people on this issue because it is a very serious problem that is worsening each and every day worldwide. We all need to take responsibility for this and each do our part to help reduce or better minimize the birth rate per annual worldwide. One way we can do this is by adopting as you said in your blog and mabe birth control. Some people don't agreed with the idea of birth control because of religious believe which could be another issue and so we can all try to find a common ground where we all can come to some understanding as to how to tackle this worldwide growing problem.

  2. Overpopulation is generally defined as an inability of the environment to support the existing population of humans or other living things. As a consequence, each individual has less living space, or fewer available resources, or reduced quality of life.Over population has a big impact on the environment. The accelerated of the human populations has propitiated the destruction of natural habitats of many species. People are invading the habitats of those species, replacing them to inhospitable places and condemning the native species to the extinction.

  3. Only 3 percent of the worlds water supply is freshwater, so although we are surrounded by water, it is not for the drinking. If the water goes, so does life. I think I almost agree with chinas rule on only having one child, because although it is not fair to be told how to live your life, it is a dire situation that needs to be handled. I suppose in order to make the law a little less authoritarian it could be said that you may not create more than one child, but if you want more you could adopt. And for religious couples who dont believe in birth control, perhaps they believe in getting their tubes tied as an alternative.

  4. I worry about the same kinds of problems going on in the United States and all over the world. There many be people who can afford a ton of kids but there are many people who can't. The huge problem is when people have a lot of kids and can't afford them because people get into debt and can't pay their bills or help the children. Adoption is a great way to solve this problem. Every child deserves a loving home and sometimes it sucks to feel like your parents didn't want or couldn't keep you but atleast your not in foster care or out on the streets. Most families who adopt are great parents and very loving.Another huge problem of over population is the polution it causes to our environment and how we have to destory a lot of land to build homes. I don't think that there should be a limit to the amount of kids you have but you jus need to make sure that you are able to take good care of them.

  5. I agree something needs to happen and needs to happen fast. I would hate to see what would happen if our country ran out of our daily needs like water. I also have to agree that people should not have so many children. I wanted to have six children every since I was 10 and saw the Brady Bunch. However, I would never be able to support that many children and myself on the salary that I make. People who have problems getting pregnant should look into adoption, they shouldn’t give up completely. However, I understand where one can say I want my own child not someone else’s. I would love to adopt a child but they need to make it less expensive and make it an easier process.

  6. It's scary not many people are realizing that we are actually running out of our scarce resources for living! I also agree with China's birth control rule to keep each household's babie only one. It is not just China that is overpopulated. Running out of resources due to overpopulation means that popularity in most countries causing the same problem. Although its' the fact that people have the right to have babies, we really need to start preventing the world from overpopulating right now -- for our future and our second generations' future.

  7. The United States has a lot of people. However, this isn't beacuse people are having enourmous families. The average number of kids per family in the US is around two, which is nothing compared to some other countries. Granted there are reasons for that but our problem is not overpopulation. It is poor management of resources. As the human race, we are greedy and dislike facing problems until they are unavoidable. Like the stuff video we watched last class discussed, we need to change how we live. Sustainability is key and we need to start thinking about the future now if we want to exist in it.

  8. I really think the only way to stop this madness is to have a child allocation so that there's a possibility that our population will decreases slowly but surely.
