MAN I LOVE THE WINTER

Who doesn't like the winter!?

I mean really. Sometimes you get no school, no work, no worries. You get to layer up like the kid from The Christmas Story, and make snowmen, snow angels, sled, snowboard, ski, whatever tickles your pickle! Yeah, sure it's a little cold, but that's what jackets, gloves, and snow boots are for!

Now living in Maryland, you get the best of both worlds. A really hot summer, and a really harsh winter. Who doesn't love a good snowstorm? It gives you the excuse to either stay inside and relax, make some hot cocoa and sit by a warm fire, OR you can put on a few sweatshirts, go outside and enjoy God's dandruff.

Whatever you choose, you can't lose. Yeah sure, the fall is great. Beautiful scenery, you never know if mother nature will give you a hot or a cold day. Who doesn't love putting on a pair of shorts only for it to be just under 50 degrees outside, or vice versa. Give me a break, with the winter, you KNOW what you have to wear. You know you need to put on 2-3 undershirts, throw over a Northface, and you're good to go. You wont walk outside and be hit with a 80 degree heat front.

Snowball fights, sledding, snow forts, tunneling, snowboarding, skiing, shoveling snow (who doesn't love that?), what else could you ask for? As long as I get a nice, hot summer, I can deal with a few months of some good snow. What better way to let your inner-child out then to belt your dad with a few good snowballs?

WINTER SUCKS

So who really likes the winter ? You have to wear tons of clothes, and when you go outside you still freeze your butt off. Winter is good for two things Snowboarding and making tunnels, thats about all i can think of. Many of the normal activities such as running or swimming , and all that jazz cant happen because roads, sidewalks , and almost everything else is covered with snow and frozen over. Last winter we got like 2 feet of snow and its pretty dont get me wrong but once the dog pees in the snow or mud comes through, the whole scene is ruined. I got snowed in for almost 5 days and had no electricity which was a blast in 20 degree weather. So who likes WINTER and WHHHYYY????

You wana know What really Tickles my pickel?

There is controversy on whether congress should continue George W. Bush's tax break... Well the fact is that we shouldn't, Americans couldn't afford it than, and sure as hell can't afford it now. The fact is that the Bush tax cut only made the rich get richer... and the poor get even more poor. The fact that America thinks that if we give tax break to the rich that the money that they save will trickle down to the poor is absolutely absurd, because that is not what ends up happening. What happens is the rich take their money that their saving and buy new Airplanes and bigger houses.

Barrack Obama issued a tax break that would tax the rich, and give tax breaks to the middle class and the poor. His limit to tell whether not a person gets the tax break is if the person makes more than or equal to 250,000. This tax break would help out way more people than the 1% of people that George Bush tax break helped.

Why are people against this tax break? Well the reason is that the rich do not want to pay the extra 3% more in taxes... Are you kidding me... These people that see this increase in tax won't even notice that its gone from their bank account.

No one likes being taxed... But people like to complain that their is money deficit. The hypocrisy is that a government can't reduce their deficit with out raising taxes; Its impossible.

-Rich people who make above 250,000 Dollars... Pay the damn 3% so that the middle class and poor can have some extra money to spend on your businesses.

I Need This Semester to End

Im all for going to college. I talked about that in my last blog. However, Im worn out! Ive wrote paper after paper. Researched this topic and that topic. Took this test and that test. I cant catch a break. Im a full time student and I have no life other than school, home, gym and work. I havent been to the gym in 2 weeks! So much for my 50lb weight loss by march. I just dont see me meeting my deadline. My point is this: for some, going to college means giving your life away. We get so consumed, it seems, that we forget to enjoy our younger years and for some, our older years. Life is more than taking tests. Its more than doing tons of research. Its more than cramming to study for an exam and doing DNA extraction in the lab only to see what looks like snot (lol) on a toothpick. While we stand to gain in the long run, it seems to me that we loose so much. There has to be a balance. Maybe there is and I just havent found it yet.

Palin 2012?

Well it is all but official.  Sarah Palin is throwing her hat into the 2012 Presidential race.  Many people nightmare and many people fairy tale have come true. Since the 2008 election Sarah Palin have burst onto the political scene with non-stop news coverage, her own show, millions of dollars and not to mention her daughters new found success.  Only in America, does being being a celebrity get mixed so much into to policy and government.  So with this announcement the media have enough to keep them busy until the 2012 election.  Truly I admire Sarah Palin and she have given all Americans another time to believe that in this country you can be anything you want....even President.  Work hard, keep your nose clean and get picked McCain's VP and the sky is the limit.  She proves that you can do it if you just believe in yourself.  Who would have every imagine, a mom governer from Alaska could reach the top of the Republican Party?  I think this will provide a lot of good election entertainment as the Democrats try to stop Wonder-woman.  I admire Palin for some reasons, she is a working mom, a outdoor nut and she believes in herself.  These are all characteristics the American kids can learn from.  She refuses to believe anybody telling her she can't do something, or she is dumb and won't amount to anything.  She have proved that you don't have to be the brightest or smartest in the class to make it to the top.  So as America gets prepared for the ride of our generation, fasten your seatbelts and get ready for Palin 2012....YOU BETCHA!!!

Teenage Pregos

We are constantly told the teenage pregnancy rates are skyrocketing we need to stop it from happening all together. I agree with trying to stop teenage girls from having babies, but is it normal? For every 1000 teenage girls there are approximately 51 births. That is very close to the same figure in the 1920s. Maybe the difference is that back then people were used to the idea of starting families early and gang independence at a young age. They not only had children but were married, and had a husband that could support them. Now, we have a barriers that prevent younger girls to get married and younger boys to maintain jobs. Are we really creating an issue from nothing?
I have many friends that have had kids at young ages. It seems that that their lives are normal, maybe not for our age, but they get things done. Yes, they limit themselves from the things they could be doing but at the end of the day that’s the life they choose to live. I think we have done a great job on supporting girls who have kids earlier on, but we can do more by being nonjudgmental. Teenage pregnancy is not normal but something that will happen. We need to get used to it because it’s important for everyone to still be able to have a fair chance at life.

Consumer Craze

The holidays are a stressful time for almost all of us. Whether you wait until the last minute to do all your shopping, or you start when the stores are trying to lure you in to start your shopping in October. I was shopping with my three kids’ ages 6, 7, and 9, in Costco a few weeks before Halloween; the kids asked why the stores already had Christmas trees and decorations up. I really didn’t know what to tell them except it all boils down to the all mighty dollar. Then they wanted to know why we just can’t celebrate one holiday before they set up decoration for the next holiday. The stores have us shopping for holidays that are three or four months away. We spoke in class recently about how our county is a country that economy is dependent on consumers. I am just as guilt as everyone else wanting the coolest gadget that came out. However, marketing to Christmas shoppers in October seems a little over board. Yet we must fall for it, and buy more every year for the stores to market to us earlier each year. I will not be shocked if I walk into a store to return some ugly sweater after Christmas and I’m sure I will see Easter decorations up. This just solidifies to me that we are definitely a society that is very much dependant on consumers spending as much as possible. Who know maybe this year after the holidays we will know if our recession is almost over. It is sad to think that our economy and job growth will be determined by the success of this year’s Christmas shopping. Perhaps I shouldn’t complain about the stores marketing us months before holidays if it allows people to have jobs and security.

What to eat?

Most vegans and vegetarians do not eat meat because of how animals are treated and slaughtered. I understand how sad it is to see animals suffer for our own needs. But truth of the matter is that they and everyone else are harming and hurting plants when we eat them. We plant acres and acres of plants just to cut them down and eat them like we would with cows and pigs. Just because plants cant talk or cry does not mean that we are harming them just as well. We are on top of the food chain so we eat whatever we want because we can. We harm things for our pleasure and for our survival and thats just how it is always going to be. Humans need both meat and veggie's to live a healthy life so without eating meat you are not able to get a good amount of protein you need. Same with veggies. If you do not eat veggies then you will not be a healthy person and not get the amount you need. So being a vegetarian or vegan because the process of getting that meat and thinking you are not harming plants is not true and you are harming plants. You hurt both plants and animals when getting the process of the food. Americans will continue to slaughter animals and cut down plants for our own needs so why not just eat what we need to be healthy and eat what is already slaughtered or cut down.
So eat on!

Business-Class Outrage

For a good many years, I felt as if I was a lone ranger in the feeling that "national security measures" had gone too far after 9/11. As many Americans put on their elbow pads and helmets upon the raising of the terror alert level, I took the scale as a mere joke. And while I am fortunate enough to not have to fly on a regular basis, I found my biannual trips to the airport to be dreadful. Having to smell everyones nasty feet at the security gate got old, and I will always miss that bottle of Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo that was just 6 too many ounces to bring on a national flight. It is also quite irritating that when I need my hands free for a few minutes, no one seems to want to watch my bags for me...
But the TSA has now rung a liberty bell in the heart of every plane flying patriot; they have installed full body scanners! Conservatives and liberals alike protested this addition, citing it as invasive and pornographic. The TSA took this message to heart, and responded to the people with something to the extent of "well, we can grope you instead." However, this alternative was also not favorable. I thought nothing of the outrage, I was delighted to see it if anything. Though, I read a blog recently that made me reconsider my perspective on the issue and those who take it the most seriously; the business class.
Where were these advocates of liberty when the Bush administration (with the help of Democrats) issued warrentless wiretapping? Or waterboarding? Or imprisonment without trial? The author of the blog notes all of these things as greater invasions of liberty than body scanners, and I would have to agree. He provided a scatterplot which was "completely fabricated" to show these personal invasions in comparison:

Electricity dependance

We are so dependent on electricity as a source of energy and power that if we lose it, we would fall into an era of darkness. All of our technological advances depend on electricity. It has become a part of our daily lives, and without it we are pretty much useless. Electricity has come a far way from just simple static electricity, where it wasn't used in 600 B.C., up to this day. The truth is, there are very few things in today's society that do not require electricity to function or that have been made with a tool that uses electricity. We use electricity in our every day lives, from the pump that brings in water in the faucet every morning so we can brush our teeth, to building magnificent buildings so we can live in. Electricity brings entertainment to our house with the television and computers, and also gets the cars battery going so we can transport ourselves from place to place.Electricity is the most basic part of technology, technological discoveries, and our lives. Electricity runs through every wire and circuit of every technology. This includes the refrigerator, without a fridge all our food would go bad within a couple days. There is no way we would survive without electricity. Everything is done for us in a 90 percent. All we need to do is plug the fridge and we have cool food, turn on the stove and we have fire, hit the switch and we have light. Electricity is so indispensable to the people that without it we would not be able to keep our food fresh, turn on a fire to cook our food, or even walk around in the dark. It is fundamental for our survivability. These are just a few things that we have taken for granted, but we never stop and think what if we didn't have electricity? What would we do if the power plants that generate electricity cease to work?

TSA Full Body Scans

As we enter the holiday season, there’s been a lot of chatter about TSA’s new body scanning systems, which reveal objects that may be hidden underneath items of clothing. I’ve been through airport security many times in the past, and given my tan skin and freakishly large eyes, an invisible sign that says “terrorist” always seems to reveal itself at the top of my forehead in bold red ink to airport security. I’ve been interrogated in customs, had three pairs of bomb-free-shoes and even a weapon, which I like to call “eyeliner,” confiscated. Personally, I was thrilled to hear about these new systems being added to airports and would even give an evil chuckle to myself as I would hear others speak, worried about their right to privacy being taken away. I felt as if somehow I’d been wronged and now everyone else would have their turn to be equally violated and treated like a suspect. All of that changed when I was listening to the Kane Show the other morning, a D.C. radio talk show, as they spoke of just how revealing the TSA systems can be. Now don’t think for a minute that my evil thoughts had instantly turned around, oh no, but now I had new worries. Thanks to the underwear bomber, and many previous foes, the TSA machines have been made to detect objects through undergarments and deep inside crevices. How does this affect me and other women out there? Other than the fact that Tampax will no longer be our monthly friend, this “fuse looking” helper could easily be mistaken for a bomb. As if cramps weren’t enough to complain about, here you are girls, another reason to curse that unwanted monthly cycle that always seems to come at the very worst of times! I think the best ending for this post would be.. FML!

Prop 19

Unfortunately, the debate on legalizing marijuana has been defeated in California. Some may question it’s a dumb idea, and would cause more problems, such as accidents, and dumbness of America. Could idiocracy plague the United States for legalizing marijuana a (so called drug)? The idea of weed being a harmful drug is I think past our time, in which is no more harmful then alcohol, and in fact cause more problems from making it illegal. With the crowding of prisons and the expense’s, the importation of marijuana, and the crime rate due to drug dealers. California is widely in debt in which the legalization would theoretically pull them out of debt, due to the massive revenue. There has never been a death due to smoking marijuana, and have never heard of a person smoking to death. You would think alcohol is more potent and should be illegal, due to the causes of death. Legalizing marijuana would greatly reduce crime rate in which drug dealers would be out of work. The amount of revenue would be 1.4 billion to the state of California. Are you kidding me in just California alone? Could you imagine all 50 states legalizing marijuana and the total revenue it would bring? America makes marijuana a big deal, in which has an effect on our society. If you make it a big deal, then more people will smoke, due to deviance. Are numbers of incarceration due to drug use is astronomical, and pay an astronomical price. Countries like Belgium, Colombia, Nepal, and Argentina, and other countries like Canada enforce drugs, by a fine, and have restrictions on who can carry weed. The problem is that the United States is trying to control the inevitable, in which people are going to smoke weed. By having restrictions such as, age, environment, and how much a person can carry on them, would greatly reduce expenditures regarding incarcerations.

Old People

Old people like to go to the early bird special for dinner. They go to bingo and they always go to church. Old people go to the doctors every other day. Old people are slow and we all know this but why do they have driver’s licenses? I could rant or even some say rage about how they do 35 in a 55 when you are trying to do 75. I know they need to be mobile in order to maintain some resemblance of being able to take care of themselves or even not to be a huge burden on their children or loved ones but I feel that their driving privileges should be taken away after they become a burden on society at large. Anyone can say “ after 70 they should have their license revoked” but I don’t feel this to be accurate. At 16 every driver has to take a road test in order receive a license and maybe after a certain age you should have to take one every 2 years to be able to keep yours. It has been a few years now since I took mine but if I remember right you have to preform a few maneuvers, not touch the lines and do it in less than 5 minutes. Why not task old people to do the same? I watch a show called Top Gear and they asked a few questions once that made me think. How many times have you seen a young person drive into a crowd not knowing what they are doing? How many times have you seen a young person drive the wrong way on a street? I feel it might not only help us younger people rushing to get know here quick but it would help old people out also.

don't know what to write about!!!

every time i need to write a blog, i need to sit down and think for an hour to come up with something to write. this is really frustrating because usually after the hour, i still cant think of anything. so basically this is one of those times. i have nothing to write about, so i am writing about nothing!!
it is not that hard to find something to write about, but sometimes no matter how hard you try, it just seems impossible to think of anything. its like the mind has gone blank. this also happens in exams, when you know everything before the exam, and when you get the paper.. you feel like you are in the wrong class. this happened to me in maths, and the outcome was not good. even though i still passed the class, but that test was really hard for me.
usually when i want to write a blog, i try to find something that i could explain, or something that i already have a little bit of knowledge about. but this time, i didn't find anything to write about.
writing these blogs were fun in the beginning of the semester, but now it has become a pain. and i would rather give a speech than write these blogs. i was just kidding, i hate giving speeches, but anyways.. i cant write anymore about how hard it is to think of something when your mind has gone totally blank.

Know No Failure

While going to college remains one of the American dreams, for some its impossible to do. I love going to college. Its liberating for me. It says to that I care about my future. That I want to be more than the one flipping burgers or ringing up someone elses pricey clothes because I cant afford any of my own. All of my friends at some point or another went to college or started. Some finished, some became so occupied with making the little bit of money they were and dropped out. Example, my cousin Devon. Devon was attending Baltimore city community college on the Gamble T. Woods scholarship. If he could keep his gpa at a 3.0 for 2 years, the next two years would be paid for at any college that he chose! He wanted to go to Drexel. However, he got a job at FedEx and ultimately dropped out. Now he manages a Taco Bell and wishes he would have stayed in school. College is hard. Its hard for me, its hard for you, I'm sure it was hard for Ms. Grutzmacher, our teacher who has a PhD (whoop whoop), for my doctor...for my boyfriend's mom who's a registered nurse who just got a promotion at work for all of her hard work and dedication to her patients. Just because something is hard doesnt warrant not finishing it. It gives off the impression to future employers that you can finish anything you started and now you've screwed yourself. Not only did you flunk out of college but you can't even get a decent job. Hows that for heartache? Im encouraging everyone to finish. Your life depends on it.

Rally to restore passivity

While it is nice to see that a gathering of (mainly) liberals and progressives can outnumber Glen Beck's recent Rally to Restore Honor; there is something about Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity that seemed to be lacking in effort. In the weeks leading up to the rally, Stewart made it clear that this was a rally for moderates and continued to describe the faults of both sides of the ideological spectrum in politics. While this is a nice way to become some sort of transcendent household name, he must not forget that this is the same tactic that Obama already tried. Stewart has been an asset to the progressive community for quite some time, why is he trying to sell himself short of that? He seemed to be rather displeased with the midterm election results, so why didn't he say something along the lines of "Vote Democrat" or just "Vote." Bill Maher was right to say that Martin Luther King was not giving speeches saying "well, racists have a point too." If the Daily Show camp was thinking about having another one of these rallies before the presidential election in 2012, than he might want to consider endorsing his Democratic base a little more.

Every Vote Should Count

Voting is a such a great privilege in our country. I know there are many countries that do not have such a great democratic system in place. I realize how lucky we are to be able to freely vote for which ever candidate we think will carry out the things we feel are important to us individually. I do, however have a one compliant about the electoral process. I don't like how the primaries are currently done. The current way that it is set up is that different parts of the country vote different days. This basically has our choices narrowed down by the time it is our time to vote in the presidential primaries in Maryland. Other states have held their election before ours. While I may support another canidentt my vote may already be considered useless the way the system is set up now. The choice had been determned already, and the person I was going to vote for originally would not have enough votes to win the bid to become president. I could still vote for person I originally planned on, but if anyone remembers that by the time all of us got a chance to vote in the primaries for Maryland our two real choice for either party to choose from was Barrack Obama, or John McCain. I felt as though my hands were tied by having my choices taken away. One day, I hope that this system is changed and everyone votes on the same day just like any other election. I don't know why it is held this way, but my hope is that way everyone in the country has a say in who they believe should move forward in the election process.

What Would You Do?

There is a show that I watch on Friday nights called What Would You Do?  It is a show about mock scenarios in public involving conflict and hidden cameras and actors are hired to create the conflict to see what bystanders would do in any given situation.  It looks to see if people would step up or step in and correct a wrong or would they simply ignore it and walk away.  Many scenarios involved women being verbally abused by men or situations involving fraud or theft.  It then takes the percentage of people who step in and compare it to those who do nothing.  They interview the people that step in to see why then did what they did.  As I watch the show I ask myself what would I do.  If I saw a man verbally abusing a woman in public, is the right thing to do is to say something or should you just mind your own business. This world is so crazy that when you step into people conflict you risk getting killed or hurt.   But on the other hand you want to help people in need and not see someone harmed.

Conflict in public like seeing a person steal something and being face with reporting them or not are always hard decisions.  Every day we see things such as people being discriminated against or women being harmed on the news and we wonder what we would do if we are in that situation.  The world has become more and more dangerous and sometimes when you intervene you may become a victim.  But the bottom line is what is the right thing to do.  If you ask yourself that and move on that you will end up doing the right thing even if you are harmed.  When it comes to kids on the show, the numbers are much higher for people wanting to get involved.  With the recent move to stop bullying in school, people are becoming more aware of name calling and fighting.  We must take this same prevention in our work place, the parks and other places in public.  This will create a safer environment for everyone.

Health Care

There are many controversies facing our world today and some that are specifically important to our well being. A big subject of debate in the United States is that the people are pushing congress to enact a law that will enable a public healthcare option to those who need it. There are plenty of different views and opinions on the matter and it’s a current big conversation starter and was of great importance at the last presidential elections. People around the country including political bystanders have split thoughts on this matter. Everyone believed that with a Democrat in the House would be the start of the change, but Pr. Obama is doing all that congress is allowing him to do and he is not very popular with the senate anymore. A government should provide decent healthcare as they must have reliable education for the people residing in their states and to provide basic human needs for them. The American government provides an excellent public education up to college; once a person chooses a profession they are left to deal with things on their own financially. We spend enough money on taxes and on things to benefit our economy and be able to take a break from having to pay ridiculously large amount of money for simple health care. If someone is out of work they should be entitled to see a doctor and have the cost taken away from them, it’s why government is here.

Tread Lightly!

So, I was in class the other day and my professor asked, “Is flirting with someone over text messaging cheating? Is flirting with someone over facebook cheating while you are in a committed relationship?” That's a loaded question to begin with. A few students got in a heated discussion, both voicing their opinions on the matter, with neither side being able to sway the class one way or another. Somewhat predictably, the women in the argument felt that any sort of emotional connection to another person constituted as cheating, while the men felt that physical contact was cheating.

This conversation got me thinking. If it’s unacceptable to chat someone up over facebook, is it equally as wrong to flirt with someone in the workplace? It happens all the time in the workplace, and most of the time it’s shrugged off as “harmless flirting” or “passing the time”. Would you get upset if you decided to surprise your significant other at their job, only to find them flirting with someone else? Is there such a thing as “harmless flirting”? What about flirting with a classmate? Is it totally wrong to flirt with anyone from the opposite sex (or same if that’s how you rock) when you are in a committed relationship? Does flirting alone constitute the termination of a committed relationship? Are we doomed to live life as Puritans when we commit to another person, or is there wiggle room?

The answer probably lies somewhere in the middle. If you have any respect for the person that you are committed to, you shouldn’t take things too far with flirting... what too far is, I have no idea. You should definitely not have any ulterior motives. No good can come out of that and everyone gets hurt. On the other hand, it’s probably a little irrational to want to end a relationship because your partner’s a flirt. You probably knew that they were a flirt when you met ‘em!

Protesting at Military Funerals

Imagine getting a phone call that your father/mother/brother/sister/relative/friend/coworker has just died in Afghanistan serving their country. Now take that feeling, and imagine the feeling you would get if when you arrived to mourn the loss of your loved one(s), and you saw protesters with signs that read; "Thank God for a Dead Soldier", "God Hates You", "Thank God for IEDs."

Now I don't know about you, but if someone did that at a funeral for someone close to me, there would probably be some fists being thrown. Now, I agree that people have a right to voice their own opinion, but there is a time and there is a place. A funeral is not one of those places.

The reason these protesters do it is: (I do NOT agree with these for the record)

1. "God Hates Homosexuality"
2. The United States of America allows homosexuals to live in the States
3. Our soldiers fight and defend the freedom of homosexuals (and the rights and freedoms of protesters)
4. ??????
5. Protesters hate our soldiers

I think I speak for a good majority of people when I say this is just downright absurd. A group by the name of the Patriot Guard Riders was formed in Kansas after a motorcycle club could not tolerate the Kansas-based fundamentalist church demonstrating at military funerals. They ride from funeral to funeral, revving their engines and giving heartfelt applauses in front of the protesters and wave giant American flags to block them out.

If I had any power in this, I would spread the word across the nation, and encourage others to join in with these ex-veterans and help rid our soldiers and their families of the additional heartache these protesters bring with them.

God Bless America, and happy late Veteran's day to all of you vets and families who support them!

Speeding Tickets

Picture that your driving in your car and you have to drive some where fast, and all of a sudden you see lights flashing behind you... yeah you just got pulled and praying that the cop is in a good mood, and only gives you a warning. I personally have gotten 3 tickets for going 10 over the speed limit, and one of my friends has gotten 3 warnings for going 10 miles per hour over the speed limit... (if there is a trick to getting warnings.. let me know).

The point I am trying to make is that it is a double standard when the law says don't speed or you will get a ticket, and than some people get warnings and others get tickets. Receiving a speeding ticket basically depends on whether or not you have a cop that had a bad day. The police force wonders why people speed.. Maybe its the fact that they know that there is a chance for only getting a slap on the wrist and a warning. If the Police force really wants to cut down people from speeding.... Stop giving out warnings, and give out tickets instead having them pick and choose who they give tickets too.

The point of me writing this blog is one of my buddies cough "Marcus" was going 1o mph over the limit in a school zone.. and got a warning. I on the other hand receive a ticket for going 9 mph over the speed limit and receive a 86 dollar ticket.

Police officers.... Stop giving out warnings.. and give out speeding tickets.. Lord knows a cop won't ever give me a warning... so everyone else should join in the fun and have to pay 86 dollar as well.

Gossip

So I was sitting in the cafe when I was sitting next to this group of girls. Once their friend had left they all began to talk about how much of a slut she was and just horrible things. I can not believe people are still acting like this when they are in college. It is just sad. I personally do not like girls because of how much drama they start and how manipulative they can be. I have my close girl friends and that is it. It is girls like these that make girls depressed and go suicidal. Like Phoebe Prince, a 15 year old who committed suicide because the other girls were jealous of her in school because all the guys liked her so they began talking about her and she ended her life over something that stupid because people who gossip about their "best friends". No one should feel like this when they are young. They should be able to enjoy the small things and just be happy with life. What happened to all the girls sticking together having sleep overs talking about their crushes and no back stabbing ever. I feel like every high school now has that one person that everyone picks on and that is what causes children to become depressed and want to end their life when they have a whole life ahead of them. Teen suicidal was on a all time high this year and it will only continue to rise if teens continue to pick on "the outsiders".

Can you please just SHUT UP...?

You know what really makes me mad.... When people blast their music or when people practically yell to their friends who are sitting right next to them. I hate going to the cafe on campus because the people who sit at the computers blast their music or yell at each other when they are literally right next to each other. What makes people think this is fine to do. Did they not learn any manners. We are in college I thought we were done being childish like that. I avoid the cafe because of them. It feels like now no one these days just do whatever they want and it is not attractive. It makes you look bad and very childish. You are what you act like and why would you want to be known as being childish and annoying screaming to your friends about what you did last weekend or about your personal information. Also, I understand you love music because I enjoy listening to music and I listen to music a lot. But they have invented things called headphones. They are cheap and make it a lot easier to listen to music other than bugging people around you trying to eat in peace with friends or catch up on some homework. Not everyone likes your music and wants to listen to your story about the "girl you had last weekend and have now". It is very annoying and immature. :) I just had to post this.

VIRUSES!!

READ THIS IF YOU HAVE A COMPUTER!!this is computer viruses not the viruses you get sick over.
everyone has a computer these days, and antivirus companies are making alot of money investing in viruses they built. Yes, this is true, most of the viruses out there are created by the antivirus companies. they do this so you would have to buy their antivirus in order to stop their viruses. Norton has its own set of viruses, and so does every other antivirus company.
basically we are the victims of this scam, the most common viruses out there are Trojan horse, and spy ware. not to mention all the other once. spy ware allows a hacker to see the screen of your computer, which they can than access your email address or bank accounts. however most banks have high security systems to their online data base.
the Trojan horse virus, just sneaks into your computer, and infects the files, and after a couple of months your computer shuts down, and wont start back up again.
so which type of antivirus should you use? between Norton, Kaspersky, Nod32, and AVG. i would say go with NOD 32, because nod32 is the fastest antivirus, this means that when you open the Internet explorer, it will show up faster. the speed of your Internet depends a little on your antivirus, and how fast it scans the pages you open. therefore Nod32 works the best for me.
ATTENTION: if you download an antivirus, and it keeps telling you that u have so many viruses, and you must get it to get rid of them..DON'T.. this is a virus, antivirus companies make these viruses, so you have to buy their product in order to get rid of their own virus... so NEVER download anything that says you have so many viruses.. click here to get rid of them :)

Facebook as a diary?

Why do some people treat Facebook as a diary? I remember a time when people treated diary’s like they were secrets of national importance, guarded and locked up in a drawer somewhere. Now people are so open with their inner thoughts and desires out in the open on Facebook. It seems to be some sort of attention whoring and maybe even a little self loathing to me. People put up so much meaningless stuff that they think others must care about. I might share a little interest in your morning commute if i saw it once but everyday? Really? What about the dinner that you just prepared? I still don't care. This though is sadly just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the worst Facebook updates. What about If you just caught your spouse cheating on you Facebook might not be the best place to share this. Unfortunately people will comment on this behavior in a positive way and it seems to just perpetuate this behavior. Your Facebook friends might not be liscienced or certified to help you out. Do you really want 85% of you “friends”, that you don’t talk too,do you really want them to know your personal business? I hope not. So the next time your pal Facebook wants to know what’s on your mind, remember, no one really cares when you make it all about you. So, invest in paper, pens, and a sock drawer to stuff it.

Abortion

Who gets to decide when a life should end and when it begins? What is the definition of life? Life is defined as a state of living characterized by capacity for metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction." A fetus has its own heartbeat at the age of 3 weeks, and has many other organs forming. Also the fetus responds to stimuli. It knows its moms voice and sometimes responds in the womb by kicking, twisting , or touching his or her face. A fetus may be attached to a host ( the mother) but most of their body fuctions alone or with some help from the mom. Some people claim that life isnt LIFE, until its viable life, which means when your born and fully developed. The "not Viable life" claim does not hold up because if life is not viable then why do people have abortions? If these babies weren't viable and would not grow up to be children then adults then an abortion would be unessasary to begin with. No body is born complete we grow, mature, change, and age constantly which mean where always developing, just like fetus do through the 9 months in the womb. Shouldn't the baby have a right ?

Green is the new black

Our society has in the past been tough on the earth. Large ineffiecient automobiles, big energy using houses, an excess of constructions, using easy chemicals solutions have all been the norms. This way of life has left a large carbon foot print and people are beginning to see how their personal choices have impacted the earth. People are starting to make conscious everyday efforts to change everyday choice into every friendly choices. By doing so the market has also changes to make more available earth friendly options. Some say that smugness is the reson behind the eco-friendly movement. That people look down on other people if they do not make the eco-friendly choices. Others believe it is way of life that has come into style because of economic hardships our country has faced. Whatever the reason the market is now flooded with green options. Hybrid cars were once few and far between. Now they are all over the road. Automakers ever have made large SUVs hybrids to meet the demand for green cars. Grocery stores are all filled with options for everyday household foods and products in a green version. People have started to bring reusable bags to stores hoping to eliminate waste of paper or plastic bags. Reusable cups plates napkins, water bottle, water filters are also popular. Marketing companies have created the idea that eco-friendliness is in style and people are getting into it. Hopefully this is not just a fad and we can create a social norm of eco-friendly efforts to reduce and maybe reverse the negative impact we have had on the earth.

Labels for Less

Our economy recently experienced a recession, economic activity slowed creating unemployment, bankruptcy and other financial problems. During this time Americans learned the hard way about spending beyond ones means. Before the recession everything Americans did was in excess. Living outside of ones means was common and everyone wanted the biggest and best the stores had to offer. After the recession happened people lost security and decided to wise up about their spending habits. Fiscal responsibility is now a priority for many Americans but our desire for labels and quality are still there. People can no longer see the value in high fashion labels but still desire the quality and style that comes with the label. In response to this many major fashion designers have felt the economic pinch and resorted to more economic means of selling their brand so people can afford it. Designers have begun creating lines for mainstream stores like Target, Walmart, Kohl's, etc. By doing this they have made high fashion labels attainable for more people. This allows fashion lovers to stay true to their brand and their wallets. Skeptics say that the less attainable an item is the more it is worth and by making things more people can afford you are lowering the value. The designers who have created lower market lines have in fact increased their sales and production. The U.S. is great at adapting for the times as we have seen in the past and now that people have wised up to the idea of fiscal responsibility hopefully more designers will follow suit and create more affordable clothing lines.

Don't ask Don't tell

At a young age Americans are taught to accept people and respect them for their differences. How can we as adults preach this and expect other adults to hide basic truths about themselves. Our country is very advance in our thinking of freedom for everyone but our military will not allow the freedom of openly gay men and women to serve our country. By saying don't ask don't tell we are asking them to lie about something they can not control because it is too difficult to deal with. By asking this of our soldiers we are telling young gays it is not OK to be gay, you make other uncomfortable. If a young boy is gay and dreams of serving our country he can not openly be true to himself by doing so. This is setting the gays rights movement back years in their fight for equal rights. People do not agree on many things like religion and politics but we all agree and respect each others right to have differences. It is what our country was founded on. Based on this idea how can we ask gays to hide their sexuality. It is understood that by taking away the don't ask don't tell policy it will not take away the problems gays face in the military, but at least it is a fair fight for them. It will create an acceptance necessary for the future of our country. If young gays see we are behind them, it will give them strength. Strength is mush needed in a time when so many young gay are committing suicide because they see no future happiness. By saying be yourself we will support you shows the youth that things do get better and our country supports you.

Monsters with Morality

In recent popular literature and entertainment Monsters have made a come back but not in a way we are used to seeing them. Monster's such as vampires, werewolves, wizards, robots and aliens are now the good guys. They live by codes of ethics like humans, they chose right over wrong. This is a far cry from past depictions of monsters, that would hurt and kill without any moral problem with their actions. Vampires were scene as blood thirty killers that would hunt and kill human victims, werewolves could only come out during full moons to stalk their pray. Wizards and witches did the work of the devil. I did not see Harry Potter doing the devils work, he is busy saving all of humanity. What does this switch in roles say about us as a society. Are humans becoming more excepting of things unknown. In the past it was differences that segregated people and our understanding of each other. Now we have become more understanding of differences and encourage unity and tolerance of all races, ethnicity, classes and genders. We have learned so much from each others differences and in my belief it has sparked a greater desire for knowledge of the unknown. With the timing right authors have flooded us with novels about the good monsters and open peoples minds to the concepts that just because they are different doesn't mean they are bad. Often in the past misconceptions led to harsh judgement of the unknown. The fascination with supernatural is no longer built out of fear but of interest in their differences. It may also be an indicator that our morality levels are lowering and many can relate better to monsters. The idea of having negative power and thoughts inside but fighting for the greater goods. What does it say about our culture when we embrace monsters and often can relate better to them then in our own kind?
