what a mess

It is really scarey to think that people can lose their minds at a blink of an eye. I remember I was watching "The Ellen Show" the other day and they interuppted to talk about the Fort Hood shooting on a military base in Texas. I was like another terrorist attack? Come to find out that it was a Major who just lost it. I am going into the Army in January and it just goes to show you that you must always watch your back and never know what is going to happen. Apparently there were signs that may have prevented this incident from happening, but who really knows. I believe that as horrible and messed up this world is somethings are just meant to happen to show us what a mess we live in and hopefully open some people's eyes. It makes me upset the world in which I live in. I get scared not knowing exactly what could happen. Nothing is a guarantee in this life.

  1. What the world has come to is extrmely scary. It's scary in the sense that it is very normal to see on the news horiffic events. Nine times out of ten when the news come on there is at least three forms of violence being shown on tv. Most people do not even think twice of it. Whne this event occured, with the soldiers on base, people did nto seem to react to it as you would hope or think they would. These soldiers fight for us, protect us, and help us. Yet we do not even think twice about this person who went crazy on base.

  2. The tragedy at Fort Hood was such a horrific event. It worries me even more now. Joining the army is a very dangerous thing to do to begin with, and now we have to worry about watching our back when we are in our own home. My best friend is in the army, and my brother works at a commissary on an army base. After this event took place I became more concerned for both their lives. If this is possible in one of the largest military basses where there should be plenty of security, then why should I feel safe for the ones I love. I think it is sad when we can’t even trust our own country men who we have enlisted.

  3. It is hard to believe that people would actually just stand by and watch but it shows how important the need to fit in is to many people. Parents definitely play n active role in teaching their children how to handle situations but most parents probably don’t think that need to tell their children things like that. Parents think that a lot of things are common sense but teenagers with undeveloped brains dont really use common sense all the time and need guidance. The need to fit in is especially great among teens and so this is the age where finding their own self identity should be emphasized.

  4. The world has always been scary and we have always had some mean people or mean animals or mean weather. The best part of life is to realize that all people think and act differently and to live your life in peace and prayer. To realize when you join the military you are not joining to just fight or bring war, but also to make your mark in the world that you can help the next generation live within peace even once you are gone.

  5. Like you said, there might have been signs to prevent this event. There are always signs. People just choose to ignore them. I don’t believe that people just snap. There are usually many things that lead up to incidents like this that are just unseen by other people. Some people see them and just let them slide. If you talk to someone and see some kind of sign that they are uneasy about a situation in their life you can not let the opportunity to talk to them about it let it go. Even if it is a stranger that you see on the street that just looks like they are not having the best day, a simple smile will lighten their day. Little gestures that pick up peoples spirits can go a long way in preventing these situations.
