Weight Obsession.

Jessica Simpson's weight abuse!

For the past couple of weeks, everywhere you turn there is pictures of singer, Jessica Simpson, where she looks a bit curvier than she used to be. How much pressure are these stars under and how much can the media affect the way they feel about themselves? Do all women have to be a size 0 now or they are considered "fat"? Isn't there way more important issue's for the media to talk about? Why is America so obsessed with weight? As long as your healthy that is all that matters. This issue put's a lot of pressure on young women to be super thin, which can lead to eating disorders.
-Research says that 80% of 13 year olds have attempted to lose weight
-Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychological disorder.
-1 in 5 women struggle with an eating disorder.

Jessica's sister, boyfriend Tony Romo, and even her ex-husband Nick Lachey are all supporting her and think that this is ridiculous, and they are right! This is becomming a very serious issue, she is a role model to many young girls and the media is calling her fat when she isn't. The media has this non-realistic image of what a woman should look like. My hope for the future is that the media can rise above ridiculing women's weight.

Does this look like a fat woman to you?

  1. Her body size look very sexy and beautiful in this photo. She doesn't look overweight. The media fair to realize that every stars don't have to be size zero. Every stars have his or her only body weight that suite he or she. The is more important issues out there that the media should be talking about instance of stars personal life. They should more concern about how to solve the economic crisis with in the country today, and leave the stars personal life along.

  2. It would be nice if the media realized the influence that they have on many women. If they actually started complementing women that were the true average sizes then just maybe that eating disorder rate would go down tremendously. As we witnessed in class last week it used to be sexy to be a bit larger than the models today. Marilyn Monroe and Betty Page, two very popular and sexy women of the past were both a size 14. Now the ideal of being a size 2, if that, is the “sexy“weight. That would put the other 90% of the female population in the “not so sexy” category. If the media would only use their power for a good cause and say bravo to Jessica Simpson for eating a sandwich or two it might make room for some of the teenage girls to stop starving themselves and realize that your body will be the size it is supposed to be as long as you take care of it.

  3. I think this has good important message for any age women and girl. Especially; for teenager because they are more become more exposes to this kind of issues. They think if one of the stars or they think their role model to them is overweight that has a huge impact in their lives. Which cause those to do many things try to fit not their own health weight is good for them, but they do what is the media think is good weight. The bad thing is about the media is they talk about this kind of staff over and over; and then most women think is a big deal to become over weight and give them too much pressure.

  4. She's not fat, her pants are just up to her boobs. And I could have sworn marilyn monroe was size 12. Either way, Bettie page had some huge hips and she is quite the role model for many counterculture people. At least some people realize that media today is not the word of god. Unfortunately, many people realize these things after their teenage years, or years of trying to find who they are in relation to the world and their peers, only to realize that media is a false world put up. More people should be aware of these things, but who will tell them? The media? lol.

  5. The media and the public gossip these days has gotten out of control. How many times do you see yourself looking at those stupid celebrity mag. while you are in line at the grocery store? People focus on out ward apperance so much they they forget what really matters. Would you rather have a really attractive girl friend who is a complete bitch or a be with someone who is a good person and treats you really well? I have always thought Jessica Simpson was beautiful and i remember reading something that said when she was really in shape and upsessed with her body she was really sad and depressed. Now she is very happy and living life to the fullest.

  6. I would have to agree this is a very ridiculous. If they think she is fat then what does that make me? I don’t even want to think about that answer. However, Jessica Simpson is anything but fat. She is gorgeous. A lot of people look at actors/actresses and professional singers and always saying he/she is too fat or he/she is way too thin. It makes the individuals that look up to them think well if there are this, then I need to lose some weight too. I think that is crazy. I think that some celebrities can actual gain some weight not lose it.
