College tuition on the rise

Going to college in The United States can be very expensive in today's time and the expenses continues to increase. This is affecting many families across the United States. There are so many families that are in debt and taking a lifetime to pay off the loans and tuitions cost of the universities. Results has shown that graduating students now have twice as much of educated related debts as graduates ten years ago. I think the rise of tuitions and college fees are going to hurt America's future. The reason i say this is because the tuition cost is so bad that a lot of students end up dropping out of college or debate on wetheror not to attend college because their family can not afford it. A lot of students are being forced to drop out of college because they can not pay their expenses. College tuition and expenses in private's colleges will rise an average of 4.3 percent in the next school year reported by the National Assn. of Independent Colleges and Universities in its annual survey. Tuition and fees at public four-year public colleges rose $344, or 6.3 percent, to an average of $5,836 for the 2006-07 academic year, according to the College Board's annual "Trends in College Pricing" report, released Tuesday.
Accounting for inflation, prices rose just 2.4 percent — the lowest rise in six years, and the third straight time the gap between prices and overall inflation has narrowed.
Tuition and fees at private four-year colleges rose 5.9 percent overall, to $22,218.http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,224438,00.html

  1. I agree that college is way too damn expensive. i know my parents struggle to put me and my sister through college and when I look at them it makes me want to become something great in life so I can take care of them when their older and give them the luxuries they want. I feel all that college is a business and tuition and books are just a way to get money off of us and its pretty sad that people don’t realize how much of a struggle people go through to pay for college. i mean if your rich and you got money its probably the easiest thing in the world not having to worry about money but people that have to work and pay for it struggle a lot.

  2. why is college so expensive? especially in this country known as the door of all oportunity. College is the door of all opportunity, and that is where people learn and go confront life that is where we get our doctors and lawyers why make tuition extremely expensive and help those who cant afford it drop out

  3. What I don’t get is that schools receive money from government and other benefactors who have their names on their buildings that they donated money for. So where does that money go? How come students have to pay more and more? Let’s take HCC for example: we see big signs of it receiving this award or that award for whatever it is they receive the award for, but how come the cost for one class is like $575? That is like $200 more than when I first started here at HCC 2 years ago. Inflation is a part of the problem. But what is the school itself doing to lower the cost of education. The whole reason for going to community college was to escape the financial hardship of a four-year college, but when the community college’s cost of education is rising, it makes it too hard for a student to be a student. (They probably have to work more hours to pay for tuition, rent, and other related fees)
