Greedy

Since I started taking this class I have learned so much about the different things that are going on in society today. I feel very grateful for the life I was given and it makes me so sad to think how spoiled or how good we as Americans have it here in The United States. It just blew my mind that people in Africa aren’t making it past 40! While we over here complain about how “I’m starving, I haven’t eaten in 6 hours!” Don’t get me wrong I have said this before, but it just pisses me off how much we as Americans take for granted the very simple things in life. I mean as we talked about how obese our country is and how much we spend on weight loss pills when other people in other countries are going without meals for days at a time it just makes me sick! I don’t understand why there isn’t something we can do as a whole to help people who can’t afford the luxuries that we can. I gave a homeless man some left over pizza I had from a meal and he was so grateful for that it literally brought tears to my eyes. I just wish that Americans weren’t so selfish and self centered and would care about someone who is in dire need of things that we overdo.

  1. I totally agree with this however i dont think you can blame america for this either. I think any person who has more than wat they need to survive are never thankful. I went to pakistan and there are many poor mothers and children who find leftover foods to eat. Like once me and my cousins went out to eat and i didnt finish my food so i decided to give it to one of the poor children but as soon as i was about to gove it to her my cousin stopped me and said no we can take it home and eat it tomarrow. "I was like are you serious this child hasnt probably ate in days and u wanna take this home." yea people can be greeedy!

  2. I do believe some people are ungrateful for certain thing they have in life. I say this because some people are more fortunate than others and they refuse to help other because they think that you are less than a person because you dont have the riches like they do. I think that people need to open up there eyes and see that the world is a hard place and there are less fortunate people and sometimes giving a helping hand wont hurt you never know it may help you out in the end

  3. I feel you... yes it's unfortunate but true, we can be selfish and greedy at times. I have known people who would rather have things grow rust on them before giving them away to someone needy. We really ARE fortunate. But we still are complainers and we should take a closer look at those less fortunate and realize we have it good, and stop it.

  4. I agree that Americans are very fortunate for the resources we have. Water alone is something so looked over as a blessing. Some countries do not have, but we can all do something individually to help third world countries. Such as the personal lending program shown in class. So instead of only realizing how good we have it, its time that we do something. There are commercials that come on tv all the time that ask for donation. Congratulations for making the first step of recognition, now lets chuck up the cash. But thats not even the worst part. What about the children in America that do not have water? Though America is very fortunate, not every citizen or child is eating everyday.

  5. I totally agree with this. I think that Americans are very spoiled but other than thinking we are spoiled, I am just thankful. When going through high school I always got horrible grades because I always had a lot of fun. Although I do regret not getting into a university were my friends are having so much fun, I don’t regret having fun in high school because they were the best years of my life, especially my senior year. Anyway, my point is that many people who do not receive an education may look at me as being unthankful. When looking back on it I think the same way about myself because I didn’t get a lot out of my four years. However, now I care about school because now is when it counts. So now I am very thankful to my parents to receive such a great education and now I do feel greedy because I am paying and getting so much out of it.

  6. Yes we Americans are greedy. We do have many things to be grateful for as we do live in a very prosperous country. Most Americans are not grateful for what they have. They are not ungrateful on purpose. They just have not been educated on the living conditions of other countries. They have not seen what they could be living like if they were living in a not so prosperous country. Until these people have made their way to these poorer countries, they do not have the full knowledge of what it could be like and should not be held responsible for their actions of greed and ungratefulness. To them they are being very grateful but not compared to the poor people of Africa because they have not been able to experience that.
