Rally to restore passivity

While it is nice to see that a gathering of (mainly) liberals and progressives can outnumber Glen Beck's recent Rally to Restore Honor; there is something about Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity that seemed to be lacking in effort. In the weeks leading up to the rally, Stewart made it clear that this was a rally for moderates and continued to describe the faults of both sides of the ideological spectrum in politics. While this is a nice way to become some sort of transcendent household name, he must not forget that this is the same tactic that Obama already tried. Stewart has been an asset to the progressive community for quite some time, why is he trying to sell himself short of that? He seemed to be rather displeased with the midterm election results, so why didn't he say something along the lines of "Vote Democrat" or just "Vote." Bill Maher was right to say that Martin Luther King was not giving speeches saying "well, racists have a point too." If the Daily Show camp was thinking about having another one of these rallies before the presidential election in 2012, than he might want to consider endorsing his Democratic base a little more.
